Columba is a small, faint southern constellation representing a dove, traditionally associated with Noah's dove in Christian tradition.

2. Creation by Petrus Plancius

Introduced in the late 16th century by Dutch astronomer Petrus Plancius, it was originally carved out from the larger southern expanse of Canis Major.

3. Phact: The Brightest Star

The brightest star is Phact (Alpha Columbae), a blue-white subgiant whose traditional name derives from an Arabic word for the ringdove.

Beta Columbae, known as Wazn, joins Alpha to form the core framework of this modest yet graceful constellation.
